As the Founder, Chairman and CEO of the firm, I would like to explain where this firm has been and where it is going. In March of 1997, I started this firm along with some exceptional partners after working in the field since 1980, solely with Catholic clients. Over the years, along with the executives of the firm, we have developed capital campaigns, designed development programs and implemented stewardship for Catholic parishes, dioceses, and schools throughout the United States. I am continuously astonished by the leadership and generosity we witness on a daily basis. I have always said this is a wonderful business to be in because we work with some of the best people in the world; those sacrificing their time, talent and treasure to make the world a better place.As Chairman and CEO of Guidance In Giving, Inc. Michael R. Cusack is a resident of Bayport, NY and Palm City, FL and has served as Chief Executive Officer and President of Guidance In Giving, Inc. since the firm was founded in 1997. Mr. Cusack began his career in 1980 conducting parish, diocesan and school campaigns in Georgia, Louisiana, Virginia, Tennessee, Washington, DC, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Florida, Illinois, Texas, California and Washington to name a few states. During the last 32 years, he has been involved in capital campaigns that have raised over $5,000,000,000 for Catholic causes.In 1997, at the urging of family, friends and associates, Mr. Cusack founded Guidance In Giving, Inc. to serve the Catholic Church. Since beginning the firm, he has never veered from his mission of providing exceptional counsel and dedicated service and advice to clients under the auspices of Catholic stewardship. A frequent speaker on stewardship, development and campaigns at local, regional and national conferences, Mr. Cusack brings an extensive resume to each client and is actively involved on a daily basis with the operations of every account.Mr. Cusack has been married since 1983 to his wife Marla. They have three daughters, Hayley who is a 2008 graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and Melissa and Jennifer who are 2010 graduates from Providence College.

Presidents- Joseph W. Zamorano is a native of Baltimore, MD and has been living in San Diego since 1992, when he established the West Coast Office of the firm. Joe attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA where he graduated with a BS in Natural Science and Mathematics. He has been involved with stewardship, development and fundraising for Catholic parishes, schools and diocese since 1988 throughout the United States. As executive vice president, Joe oversees the parish division of the firm as well having extensive involvement with sales, operations and supervision of parish and diocesan accounts.Joseph is on the board of directors of several San Diego Charities and is actively involved with his parish, St. Thérese of Carmel, where he is a member of the Fianance Council, Building Committee and Knights of Columbus. Joseph is also involved with the DADS Club of his daughters school, Notre Dame Academy.Joe and his wife, MaryLou have a daughter, Danielle. He is fluent in Spanish, is an avid sports fan and enjoys golf.

Michael V. Goodwin is a native of Annapolis, MD. He attended Valley Forge Military Junior College where he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant in the United States Army (Infantry). After his commissioning he went on to receive his BA in Business Management from Loyola College in Baltimore. Michael and his wife, Christine, have a daughter, Rachel and a son, Colin. They reside in Freehold, NJ where Michael established the Mid-Atlantic Office of the firm in the late 90's.He has been involved with fundraising for Catholic parishes, schools and diocese since 1992. Michael oversees the diocesan division of the firm and is involved with sales and supervision of parish and diocesan accounts. Michael enjoys sports and is an avid fisherman. The majority of his free time is spent coaching his children in Soccer, T-Ball and Lacrosse.

Stephen A. Babcock, originally from Central New York (Oswego), resides on Long Island (Sayville) and joined Guidance In Giving, Inc. in 1997. Since joining Guidance In Giving, Inc., he has been involved in conducting a wide array of development efforts throughout the United States (including capital campaigns, feasibility/planning studies, annual appeals, development audits, etc.). He spent his first seven years with the company working primarily in the diocesan division spending time in Charleston (SC), Fargo (ND), Houston (TX), Norwich (CT), San Diego (CA), Savannah (GA), St. Augustine (FL), St. Petersburg (FL), Wheeling-Charleston (WV) and Youngstown (OH). Since 2004, Steve has served in the parish division, in sales, supervision and operations of development efforts in Catholic churches throughout the Northeast, Midwest and Southern United States.Steve is a 1996 graduate of Siena College in Loudonville, NY. He and his wife Tara were married in 2001 and have four children, Callaghan, Quinn, Leah and Daniel.

Joe Neville, a Maryland native, currently resides in Windermere, FL and joined Guidance In Giving, Inc. in 2000. Over the last eleven years, he has been involved in conducting a wide array of development efforts throughout the United States in arch/dioceses, parishes and Catholic high schools (including capital campaigns, planning studies, annual appeals, development audits, etc.). He has been involved with Catholic projects in Alabama, Arkansas, California, Florida, Georgia, Maryland, Missouri, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas, Washington, and West Virginia. For the past two years, Joe has focused his efforts in sales, supervision and operations of development efforts in Catholic parishes and dioceses throughout the Mid Atlantic and Southeastern United States.He and his wife Kristy were married in 2004 and have two children, Evan and Claire.

Jennifer Frazer, a New Jersey native, joined Guidance In Giving, Inc. in 2000 after receiving her Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Salisbury University in Maryland. She has been an integral part of diocesan campaigns in: Greensburg, PA; Toledo, OH; Peoria, IL; Charleston, SC; Victoria, TX; Helena, MT; Fort Worth, TX; Lexington, KY and Marquette, MI raising in excess of $300,000,000. Jennifer is currently working as the Executive Director on the Diocese of Raleigh, NC capital campaign to fund a new Cathedral Campus. Jennifer has lived in Mt. Pleasant, SC for the past seven years. She stays very active in the Mt. Pleasant community with her membership at Christ Our King Parish, and volunteering with The Preservation Society of Charleston where she gives historical home tours. In her spare time, Jennifer plays on Co-Ed softball leagues and enjoys walks on the beach with her black lab mix, Charlie.

-Vice Presidents New Jersey native Mike Coates has worked with Guidance In Giving, Inc. for 12 years, serving dioceses and parishes in every part of the United States- from the Northeast to Alaska. The projects for which Mike has executed feasibility studies, conducted or supervised capital campaigns or otherwise participated in have raised in excess of $200,000,000.Michael, his wife Jessica and son Matthew live in Newnan, Georgia, a suburb of Atlanta, where he has run the Metro Atlanta Office for the firm since 2002. He also continues to travel frequently in order to assist Campaign Directors under his supervision. Mike is an avid backpacker and a published poet (National Library of Poetry.).

Meegan Wright, a native Floridian and graduate of Florida State University, joined Guidance In Giving in 2004. She has been a part of parish campaigns throughout Florida, stewardship efforts in the Archdiocese of Anchorage, Alaska and Wheeling-Charleston, West Virginia, as well as diocesan campaigns in Peoria, Illinois, and Youngstown, Ohio. She served as the Executive Director for the All Things Possible Campaign in the Diocese of Fort Worth, Texas, and is currently serving as coordinator of the Bishop's Appeal for the Diocese of Oakland, California. Meegan supports various charities, such as the American Cancer Society, Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, and Pinellas County Humane Society. She enjoys landscaping and gardening, and hikes extensively in the National Park System.

Leslie Post, a Northern California native, joined Guidance In Giving in 2003. Leslie has raised over $40,000,000 for parishes and dioceses throughout the West Coast and is also responsible for training new employees and providing Executive Supervision for West Coast parishes and dioceses conducting development efforts. Leslie graduated from Elon University in North Carolina and currently resides in San Marcos, CA with her husband Matt. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her nephews, cooking, traveling and is an avid sports fan.

Jackie Perry, a Northwestern Ohio native, joined Guidance In Giving in late 2003. Jackie began as a Campaign Director in our Diocesan Division working with the Dioceses of Peoria, IL, Youngstown, OH and Charleston, SC before taking a new position as an Executive Director in 2007. As Executive Director she has been in charge of conducting and supervising the campaigns in the Dioceses of Victoria, TX, Helena, MT, Lexington, KY and Marquette, MI. Jackie graduated with a Bachelors and Masters degree from the University of Toledo. She is currently working as the Operations Director on the Diocese of Raleigh, NC capital campaign to fund a new Cathedral Campus and lives in Raleigh. When she is able, she enjoys traveling, cooking and spending time with her family.

Jackie Perry :: Vice President Jim Caldarola :: Midwest Account Executive
Jim Caldarola joined Guidance In Giving in August, 2011 after 27 years as the Director of Stewardship and Development for the Archdiocese of Anchorage in Alaska. During his time there, he initiated a highly successful annual appeal, conducted a major capital campaign in the Archdiocese, and assisted many parishes with their capital campaigns. He also began a stewardship education effort, promoted a major gift efforts, and initiated a planned giving program.In addition to his duties with the Archdiocese of Anchorage, he served on numerous boards and committees including the International Catholic Stewardship Council (ICSC) Board of Directors and many local non-profit organizations. He acted as advisor to USCCBs Committee on Special Collections and is a regular presenter at the ICSC annual conference. Having received his permit as a Certified Fund Raising Executive (CFRE) back in 1999, Caldarola continued the recertification process required by the International Certifying Board. Currently, Caldarola serves as a board member for CFRE International and is active in promoting the credential in the religious philanthropic sector. Jim and his wife Effie live in Omaha, Nebraska. Theiy have three grown children who live in Philadelphia, Seattle and Anchorage.

Guidance In Giving, Inc., is proud to offer our Hispanic Division. Over the last two decades, our firm has witnessed the growth of Spanish speaking Catholics in the United States and recognized the need to increase our service to this vital segment of our Catholic family.

More and more parishes require bilingual services and in some cases, Spanish is the primary language used in the parish.

We have assembled a great team of professionals who speak Spanish and understand the cultural differences between new immigrants and already established Spanish speaking Americans. Our staff includes directors form different countries such as: Mexico, Cuba, Chile, Ecuador, and others.

We stand ready to continue to provide quality service in all aspects of development in both English and Spanish.

Carlos H. Proaño has extensive experience in conducting stewardship and capital campaigns in multi-cultural parishes. One of the founders of Guidance In Giving, Carlos specializes in integrating and conducting diocesan and parish programs with ethnic communities, especially with Hispanics living in the United States. The author of El Don de Dar, his book explains the benefits of sharing our gifts with one another. Practicing good Stewardship and with a Christian spirit, Carlos has served as a guest speaker along the Spanish track for the following ICSC Stewardship Conference: Arlington 2000, Toronto 2002, Chicago 2003, New Orleans 2004, and San Francisco 2005. He has also been a frequent speaker at both local and regional conferences on stewardship and development.

Carlos married his wife Margarita in 1996. They are the happy parents of Carlos and Megan and reside in Orange County, California.

Whether it be a parish or diocesan campaign for stewardship, capital, annual appeal, or for Catholic School Fund Development, the tenants put forth in the National Catholic Bishop’s letter, “Stewardship, A Disciples Response,” are the basis of every request to individuals, corporations, or foundations for support. Educating and encouraging Catholics to return in proportion what God has freely given them is integral to making stewardship a way of life for the Church as it moves into the next millennium. An area of specialty for Guidance In Giving, Inc. is establishing stewardship in multi-cultural parishes. The face of the Catholic Church in the United States continues to change as it includes people from all over the globe. Involving Catholics of all races, ages and cultures in the activity and support of the Church is critical to the continued celebration of the living Christ in parishes and missions throughout the United States.As part of the services offered by Guidance In Giving, Inc., a booklet to assist immigrants with the American Catholic tradition of giving has been written by Carlos Proaño, Vice-President. In the booklet, entitled “"El Don de Dar”, “The Gift of Giving”," Mr. Proaño discusses the concept of being a true steward of faith with time, talent, and treasure and his own experience as an immigrant to the United States. Based on this personal experience, and his work as a consultant to multi-cultural parishes and dioceses, he has developed methods that encourage stewardship in all cultures as one, whole in the Body of Christ.
