Project Description

On July 20, 2008 St. Agnes Parish celebrated a truly historic event – the dedication of the new St. Agnes Church building! Since its completion, the building has reflected the strong spirit of community that is so important to St. Agnes and has opened its arms in a spirit of hospitality where all are welcome. Seven years later, the building firmly roots them in their Catholic tradition as well as the Catholic community that has been present in Shepherdstown for over 200 years.

As their parish grew, so did the need to consider thoughtfully how to address their current and future needs.

They needed to reduce their debt and construct much needed space in two areas of the parish facility, without incurring additional debt. The goal was to raise $1.2 million through a pledge campaign spread out over 3 years.  At the conclusion of the “active” service provided by Guidance In Giving, Inc., total pledges received equal $1,075,000, almost a 40% participation rate and an average gift of $5,045. The parish expressed a Campaign goal of $1,200,000 based on their financial need.  To date, we have attained over 100% of the Guidance In Giving, Inc. parish potential projection and 90% of the parish need.
